Kilim
The Kilim are not knotted, but are woven by nomads in Turkey, the Caucasus region, Iran and Afghanistan. Also, they do not contain velvet. That is why they are known as flat rugs. They originally served as blankets or to decorate the floor of the tents of the nomads who made them. It is only in the course of the last century that these flat carpets aroused attention in Europe. Especially for lovers of genuine art of the nomadic carpet.
The kilims have become increasingly collectible in themselves in recent years, with quality pieces now commanding high prices.
