Khal Mohammadi
Khal Mohammadi rugs are characterized by their usually coppery-colored fields, by their highly lustrous finish, their usually clean, neat, and tidy appearance, and by the decorative, flat-woven finish on either end. Typically, they are heavier-bodied and finer-knotted than Kampbaff rugs.
Unlike other rugs, the Khal Mohammadi are not named after their place of origin; their name descends from Khal Mohammad who was an Ersari Turkmen known for an innovative rug producer and master dyer from Northern Afghanistan. Khal Mohammadi rugs created this design while he stayed in Afghanistan. They are skillfully handcrafted by the Turkomans and in some areas of Pakistan as well.
